Acciona Energía has been awarded a 12-year Contract for Difference (CfD) for its Promina photovoltaic plant, marking a significant milestone in Croatia’s renewable energy sector. The 189-megawatt (MW) solar facility, which is under development in the province of Šibenik-Knin, is set to become the largest solar plant in the country upon its completion in 2027.
The plant will feature over 300,000 photovoltaic modules, expected to generate approximately 320 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy annually. This production will cater to the energy needs of around 69,000 households. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a new 400kV interconnection substation to integrate the plant into Croatia’s national grid.
Acciona Energía's commitment to the Croatian renewable market is further evidenced by its ongoing wind projects in the region, including the Opor (27MW), Boraja 2 (45MW), and Jelinak wind complexes (30MW). Once all projects are completed, Acciona Energía is poised to become a leading clean energy producer in Croatia.
This new solar initiative aligns with Acciona Energía’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in renewable energy and contribute to the country’s sustainability goals.
