ACCIONA Energía has broken ground on the 176 MWp Daanbantayan solar plant in Cebu, the Philippines. With a €120 million investment, the project is set to begin operations by late 2026, generating 280 GWh annually—enough to power over 300,000 people.
The plant will feature an energy storage system to optimize grid stability by releasing power during peak demand. It is also the first energy sector public-private partnership (PPP) in the Philippines, established between ACCIONA Energía and the Cebu provincial government.
Aligned with the Philippine Development Plan, the project supports the country’s renewable energy targets—35% by 2030 and 50% by 2050—while enhancing energy security and economic growth.
Daanbantayan is ACCIONA Energía’s first solar project in the Philippines and the largest under construction in the Visayas region. The company is also developing the 100 MW Kalayaan 2 Wind Farm and a 156 MW wind project in Pantabangan.
ACCIONA has been active in the Philippines since 2016, delivering key infrastructure and water projects, including the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway and major water treatment plants.
