Renewable energy company BayWa r.e. has made significant progress in Japan, emphasizing its dedication to sustainable energy solutions in the region. Recently, the company has been actively involved in discussions with potential electricity buyers in the corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) sector. Notably, BayWa r.e. has secured a long-term agreement with Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (NSG Group). Under this agreement, NSG Group will purchase 90% of the electricity generated by a solar facility operated by BayWa r.e. at a fixed price over 25 years, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering sustainable partnerships in Japan.
Additionally, BayWa r.e. reached the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its 50 MW Kobe solar farm, a significant milestone in Japan’s renewable energy development. At the same time, the company secured project financing with ORIX Bank for its 8 MW Tsuno solar project, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to advancing solar energy adoption in the nation.
Besides its work in solar energy, BayWa r.e. is actively looking into opportunities in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and wind energy projects, expanding its range of projects in Japan. The company’s past achievements in Japan include the successful completion of its 35 MW Isohara and 12 MW Izumi solar farms. These projects showcase BayWa r.e.’s capability to execute large-scale renewable energy projects and build valuable partnerships with industry leaders.
