Thailand's hotel operator Centara is adopting the "Smart Energy" program in its hotels and resorts in the country.
The company has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding with Company Limited for the same. The company has bene providing solar energy solutions for industrial sites, hotels, hospitals, and department stores across Thailand.
According to the agreement, “Centara and SCG Cleanergy are embarking on a transformative journey to research and plan solar energy usage through the integration of "Smart Grid."
It has been informed that the partnership is in line with Centara's long-term goals for a greener future by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent within the next decade.
“The installation of rooftop solar panels capable of generating 861.35 kilowatts of electricity, is expected to reduce over 540 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually,” the companies stated.
The latest development is an integral component of Centara's comprehensive 10-year sustainability plan spanning from 2020 to 2029, a local report mentioned.
