Commissioning Completed at France's 497-MW Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm

Тhe 497-MW Fecamp offshore wind farm in French waters is fully operational and feeding electricity to the grid from all of its 71 turbines.

The wind park was officially inaugurated at a ceremony attended by the project partners and Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate in charge of Industry and Energy. The EUR-2-billion (USD-2.17bn) project was delivered by EDF Renewables, Canada-based Enbridge Inc and CPP Investments and Skyborn Renewables, the former offshore wind business of Germany’s Wpd AG.

Located between 13 km (8.1 miles) and 24 km off the coast of Fecamp, this is the first offshore wind farm in the Normandy region. The complex is made up of 71 Siemens Gamesa 7-MW turbines, produced in France, the first one of which was erected in July 2023. Turbine installation was completed in March.

In the coming weeks, the wind farm will be able to supply electricity to almost 770,000 people, the equivalent of 60% of the annual power consumption of the Seine-Maritime department. Its operations will be monitored from a maintenance base on the Grand Quai peninsula in Fecamp.
