In a bid to strengthen ties and foster collaboration between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Thailand’s energy and water entities, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, welcomed HE Nipa Nirannoot, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand to Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The discussions centered around mutual interests in clean and renewable energy, sustainability, and water management.
Al Tayer commended the Thai Consulate’s efforts in promoting cooperation and knowledge exchange, particularly in the crucial sectors of clean and renewable energy. The meeting delved into strategic cooperation possibilities and the potential contributions of Thai organizations and companies in vital sectors shared by the UAE and Thailand.
Highlighting DEWA’s commitment to a sustainable energy model, Al Tayer outlined key projects and initiatives supporting Dubai’s vision for carbon neutrality. The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 aim to derive 100% of Dubai’s power capacity from clean sources by 2050. Notably, DEWA’s groundbreaking projects include the world’s largest single-site solar park, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
HE Nipa Nirannoot underscored the significance of bolstering trade, investments, and the exchange of experiences and technologies between Thailand and the UAE. She expressed enthusiasm for potential cooperation, partnerships, and investment opportunities between Thai companies and DEWA.
