EDPR and Microsoft sign 200-MW solar PPA in Singapore

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Monday it has signed a contract to sell all the solar power from 200 MWp of new capacity in Singapore to Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT).

The 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) is the second signed in Singapore by the majority-owned renewables arm of EDP - Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) and the US tech giant.

Under the agreement, EDPR will supply all of the output from the 200-MWp SolarNova 8 project. The scheme was secured earlier this year when the renewables firm was awarded Phase 8 of the SolarNova programme.

EDPR will install solar panels on more than 1,000 Singapore public housing buildings and more than 100 government-owned buildings, the company said.

The SolarNova programme is a Whole-of-Government effort to boost the use and development of photovoltaic (PV) projects in Singapore. Launched in 2024, it is led by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Housing and Development Board (HDB).

"We are strengthening EDP’s global collaboration with Microsoft through this project and together we are taking a step towards achieving Singapore’s sustainability goals of at least 2 GW peak of solar energy by 2030," said Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, CEO of EDP and EDPR.
