Enel Green Power kicks off operation of 398MW Guanchoi solar plant in Chile

Enel Green Power Chile has kicked off commercial operation of the 398MW Guanchoi solar plant in Chile.

The company shared that the new plant is Enel’s third-largest solar plant globally. Enel Green Power is a branch of Enel Chile.

The Guanchoi photovoltaic solar plant is also the country's largest active solar plant in Chile. The project is located in the Atacama region in the country.

According to the company, the plant has already received authorization from the National Electricity Coordinator for commercial operations.

It stated that the project is likely to “produce more than 1,100 GWh yearly, which will power more than one million Chilean homes.” It means around 900,000 tons of carbon emission could be avoided.

The solar plant includes the 893,508 solar panel installations which feature bifacial monocrystalline photovoltaic technology.

So far, Enel Chile has a renewable portfolio of wind (715 MW), solar (2,043 MW), hydroelectric (92 MW), and geothermal (83 MW), with a total installed capacity of 2,933 MW.
