European Energy Awarded Land for 21.6-MW Wind Project in Germany

Writer: Energy BoxEnergy Box

Danish renewables developer European Energy A/S has secured a contract to build a 21.6-MW wind farm in a town in the German state of Saarland.

The contract was awarded in a tender launched by the municipality of Nalbach, which sought to find investors for a piece of municipal land, European Energy said in a press release on Thursday.

The wind farm is expected to feature three units of the Vestas V172 7.2-MW turbines.

European Energy plans to apply for the building permit this year, expecting a swift approval under new accelerated processes coming into effect next year. It will also offer local citizens and the municipality ways to participate in the project. Additionally, the municipality will collect all income from the land lease.
