Inauguration of a 2.4 MWp agrivoltaic canopy on large organic crops

The three-hectare shade house aims to protect wheat crops, but also alfalfa and barley, from climatic hazards, in particular strong temperature variations, long periods without water and very rainy or hailstorms.

The solar energy producer TSE has inaugurated a new agrivoltaic canopy in Verdonnet in Côte d'Or (21). At the origin of the project, the SCEA des Tours, a farm with four partners who sought to innovate and adapt their profession to new environmental and climatic constraints, in particular the strong variations in temperatures, the long periods without water and the episodes very rainy or hail.

Designed by TSE, as part of a co-development partnership with the Dijon Céréales cooperative group, the agrivoltaic shade house therefore has a capacity of 2.4 MWp over an area of three hectares of large organic crops. According to the partners, the first results on crops sown for the first campaign show, for the wheat varieties sown (Rubisco and Energo) in organic production, an increase of 14% compared to the control plot neighboring the agrivoltaic plant. The BFC Alliance's research & development department, in conjunction with the TSE company and farmers, will continue to conduct crop trials and ensure agronomic monitoring. In total, seven different crops will be planted on the plots where the experiment is taking place.

TSE also announces that this demonstrator will be deployed in other agricultural operations in Burgundy Franche-Comté. Indeed, beyond this inauguration Dijon Céréales, member of Alliance BFC, has also signed a long-term partnership with TSE . “It is an ambitious agreement, with a vision of deploying 700MW in seven years,” said Mathieu Debonnet, president of TSE.
