Italian railway infrastructure operator Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) is seeking to purchase roughly 100 GWh of green power annually for its operations.
The FS Group company on Friday announced a EUR-64-million (USD 69.8m) tender for the procurement, aiming to contract green-certified power volumes from renewable energy sources. The tender notice has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The renewable power supplies will be used for the Rome-based railway infrastructure manager’s offices, tech stations and other premises across Italy.
The power procurement initiative supports FS Group’s goal to cover 40% of its electricity demand with power from its own renewable power plants. Under its 2022–2031 Industrial Plan, it plants to invest EUR 1.6 billion to add roughly 2 GW of renewable power capacity to produce some 2.6 TWh of green power.
