Japan’s largest wind powered green hydrogen plant powers opens in 2024

The plant will produce around 550 tons of hydrogen a year.

Japan’s largest wind-powered hydrogen plant will begin its commercial operations by March 2024.

The 110-megawatt plant will produce almost 550 tons of hydrogen a year, enough to power 10,000 hydrogen vehicles.

The plant is a joint project by Hokkaido Electric Power, renewable energy developer Green Power Investment, Nippon Steel Engineering, and industrial gas supplier Air Water.

The plant is located on the northern island of Hokkaido and is part of the country’s effort to achieve its ambitious climate goals.

Recently, Japan revealed its plans to cut down fossil fuels to 41% in its energy mix.
