Jindal Steel plans a green hydrogen plant in India

To build a green hydrogen factory, Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) has joined forces with Hygenco India Private Limited.

According to a statement from JSL, this facility will allow it to cut its carbon emissions by around 2,700 MT per year. Vivaan Solar, a top operator in renewable energy Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), has backed Hygenco in a collaboration.

With this achievement, the firm will establish a green hydrogen factory for the first time in India, according to the company.

According to JSL, it started a transition from a thermal energy-intensive production setting to renewable energy alternatives including solar and wind power during 2021–22, reducing carbon emissions by 3,100 metric tonnes.

Abhyuday Jindal, the managing director of JSL, said that the green hydrogen plant will be the first in India’s industrial sector, accelerating the switch from thermal to clean energy.

Going ahead, we’ll keep working to achieve net zero emissions and electricity conservation through our environmental, social, and governance activities. The business wants to make investments in the renewable energy industry, thus there won’t be any further thermal energy projects, Jindal previously told PTI.
