LAUNCH OF NEW COMMISSION TO BOOST GREEN HYDROGEN APPROVALS

During Energy Day at the COP27, a new worldwide commission was established with the goal of accelerating planning and approvals for the vast deployment of renewable energy sources and green hydrogen.

By 2030, it will need over 10,800 GW of installed renewable energy capacity to stay below 1.5°C, and 800 GW of renewable energy will be needed just to produce the 100 million tonnes of green hydrogen needed to replace fossil hydrogen and decarbonize both food production and heavy industry.

The Planning for Climate Commission will agree on a set of recommendations by mid-2023 and is anticipated to present its findings to the UN General Assembly in September 2023 as a joint initiative of the Green Hydrogen Organization, International Hydropower Association, the Global Wind Energy Council, the Global Solar Council, and the Long Duration Energy Storage Council.
