Leroy Merlin Poland Inks PPA with Better Energy for Renewable Supply

Leroy Merlin Poland has entered into a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Better Energy to secure renewable energy from the Chelmno solar park. This initiative aligns with Leroy Merlin’s commitment to reduce emissions and contribute to the establishment of renewable energy sources.

Under the agreement, Leroy Merlin Poland will receive approximately 14 GWh of renewable energy annually from the Chelmno solar park, covering around 20% of the company’s domestic electricity consumption. This corresponds to the annual electricity needs of approximately 7,000 Polish households.

Krzysztof Kordulewski, CEO of Leroy Merlin Poland, emphasized the significance of this milestone in the company’s energy transformation journey, highlighting the strategic importance of renewable energy procurement to achieve climate goals.

Mikkel Thorup, Senior Director of PPA at Better Energy, underscored the role of PPAs in facilitating the transition to green energy and reducing carbon impact. Through this collaboration, Leroy Merlin Poland will secure cost-effective renewable energy while contributing to the expansion of renewable capacity in the power grid.

The PPA with Better Energy will enable Leroy Merlin Poland to secure stable green energy supply from January 2025 onwards, reducing emissions by more than 8,000 tons of CO2 per year. This aligns with Leroy Merlin Poland’s climate goals to achieve a 50% reduction in emissions by 2035 and climate neutrality by 2050.

PPAs from Better Energy offer attractive energy prices and support green growth, providing companies with access to renewable energy while promoting environmental sustainability and long-term price stability.
