Nordic Solar acquires Helios Nordic Energy AB's first large-scale solar park in Gotland.

Nordic Solar has acquired a 40-MWp ready-to-build solar park project from Swedish renewable energy developer, Helios Nordic Energy AB, marking the first significant project on the Swedish island of Gotland. This acquisition is part of Nordic Solar’s larger plan to develop a 270-MWp pipeline in collaboration with Helios Nordic Energy AB. With this addition, Nordic Solar now has 150 MWp of the pipeline either ready-to-build or currently under construction.

The newly acquired project, located south of Visby on Gotland, spans 60 hectares and comes with all necessary permits and a grid connection agreement with GEAB, the grid owner.

Nikolaj Holtet Hoff, CEO of Nordic Solar, expresses satisfaction with the continued partnership with Helios Nordic Energy, emphasizing their joint contribution to enhancing renewable energy production in Sweden. He sees the addition of this project to their portfolio as a step towards accelerating the production of solar energy from large-scale solar parks in the region.

Andreas Tunbjer, CEO of Helios Nordic Energy, echoes this sentiment, highlighting the unique aspect of this project being the first large-scale endeavor on Gotland, a region known for its high solar irradiation. Tunbjer looks forward to further collaboration with Nordic Solar in the future.

Nordic Solar has recently commenced construction on its first solar park in Sweden, the Lindesberg solar park, which marks the beginning of a series of projects in the pipeline.

Looking ahead, Nordic Solar aims to establish several hundred MWp of solar parks in Sweden over the next few years, leveraging partnerships with Helios Nordic Energy AB as well as their own project development initiatives.
