The Philippines has connected its first megawatt-scale floating solar power plant to the grid, marking a significant step toward the nation’s renewable energy goal of 35% by 2030.
Located on the Malubog Reservoir in Cebu City, the 4.99 MW project was delivered by Black & Veatch and incorporates floating solar technology from Sungrow FPV.
The facility provides electricity to the Carmen Copper mining site, meeting about 10% of the mine’s power needs while contributing to the country’s broader renewable energy targets.
