SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP), a collaboration between Aboitiz Power Corp. and Norwegian firm Scatec, is expanding its renewable energy portfolio beyond hydroelectric power.
The company, led by CEO Joseph Yu, aims to increase its solar capacity by 1,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030. Yu expressed interest in both floating and land-based solar projects, viewing solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity as a complementary addition to their hydropower profile.
Additionally, the company explores floating solar opportunities in Benguet and ventures into battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, emphasizing the importance of ensuring market viability before construction begins.
Last year, SNAP initiated the 24-MW Magat BESS project and is planning three more BESS projects with a total capacity of 100 MW across facilities in Isabela and Benguet.
