Polish PGE Group to build O&M base in Ustka for offshore wind projects



The Polish energy company PGE Group has decided to build its future offshore wind projects in Ustka. It is about 150 km west of Gdańsk.

The company selected Ustka as the location for operations and maintenance centre for offshore wind farms. This base will be developed by PGE Baltica, which is a part of the PGE Group.

The O&M base will be used to monitor the operation offshore wind farms and will host technical facilities. Besides, this location will also host an associated training centre in Ustka harbour on the Baltic Sea coast.

According to the company, the construction works will start in 2024, while the operation is likely to start from 2026.

Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, was quoted, “The decision to establish our future operational and maintenance base in Ustka is an important step in the development of PGE Group projects related to offshore wind energy. We are convinced that it will also be an impulse to the development of the entire region and will allow for the creation of new jobs.”

Similarly, Dariusz Lociński, President of the Management Board of PGE Baltica, remarked, “Developing an operational and maintenance base in Ustka is the most optimal solution for us. The onshore base, which will be provided by our location in Ustka, a well-connected town with accommodation facilities, local authorities open to participation in the offshore revolution, are also important.”

The company informed that the base will also implement new innovative technologies related to offshore wind energy.
