South Africa calls for more comments on Renewable Energy Masterplan

South Africa has extended the deadline for submission of comments on South African Renewable Energy Masterplan (SAREM).

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) pushed the deadline for 18th August to receive more feedback on the draft. It plans to incorporate comments and suggestions of all the stakeholders and concerned.

The Masterplan includes a vision and an action plan for South Africa by utilizing renewable energy. The country aims to tap into growing opportunities of renewable energy and battery storage technologies.

Furthermore, the Masterplan plans to unlock the industrial and inclusive development of associated renewable energy and battery storage value chains in South Africa, a local report mentioned.

It is expected that the SAREM will also contribute to achieve the goals of South Africa’s National Development Plan.
