Brazil’s Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has approved a BRL-100-million (USD 20.4m/EUR 18.6m) loan to Jaiba CE Energias Renovaveis for the construction of a 40-MW solar power plant in the north region of Minas Gerais state. The loan comes from Sudene's Northeast Development Fund (FDNE) and is part of the 516-MW Sol de Jaiba Solar Complex, owned by local energy company Auren Energia SA. The total investment for the solar complex will amount to BRL 166.6 million and the plant will be operational in the first quarter of 2024. When it is running, it should generate enough electricity to meet the demand of more than 500,000 households.
