TNB and Trina Solar partner for advancing clean energy

Tenaga Nasional Berhad, through its subsidiary GSPARX Sdn Bhd, continues to spearhead Malaysia’s sustainable energy evolution by forging a strategic partnership with Trina Solar, a global leader in PV and smart energy solutions.
The formalized alliance, marked by a Memorandum of Understanding exchange between GSPARX’s Managing Director, Elmie Fairul Mashuri, and Trina Solar’s General Manager for Southeast Asia, Elva Wang, witnessed by the then Minister of Natural Resources, Environment & Climate Change, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, signifies a pivotal move toward harnessing solar power solutions. This collaboration spans rooftop, floating, and ground-mounted systems.
TNB’s President and CEO, Dato’ Seri Ir. Baharin Din, emphasized the significance of this partnership in accelerating Malaysia’s energy transition goals and achieving Net Zero 2050 through sustainable practices. Trina Solar, having been a trusted partner in TNB’s rooftop business since 2019, aims to enhance technical capabilities, particularly in solar rooftop projects, driving advancements in Malaysia’s solar photovoltaic market.
Beyond solar ventures, GSPARX and Trina Solar will delve into innovative smart grid solutions, including energy storage, further solidifying their commitment to cutting-edge sustainable technology.
Baharin highlighted that the collaboration symbolizes TNB’s dedication to sustainable transformation and environmental stewardship. This partnership not only reaffirms TNB’s leadership in eco-conscious energy transitions but also paves the way for diverse opportunities and technological innovation, reshaping Malaysia’s energy landscape.
TNB’s longstanding industry leadership spanning seven decades positions it as a cornerstone driving Malaysia’s energy transition. The company remains committed to substantial renewable energy and clean technology initiatives, aligning with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). TNB’s Energy Transition Plan centers on accelerating generation decarbonization, developing a flexible cross-border grid, and empowering cross-sector electrification and prosumers, with an 8.3 gigawatt (GW) RE target set for accomplishment by 2025.
