Westbridge Renewable Energy is building two new solar projects in Italy.

The projects include the 32MW Gierre solar project and the 30MW NM solar project. The Gierre project will be located in Lazio while NM project will be based in Umbria.

According to the company, both projects have already secured land and grid access, and concluded feasibility studies.

Stefano Romanin, Director and Chief Executive Officer, was quoted in a statement, "Italy is a strong market with a favourable long-term outlook, poised to be one of the leading renewable energy markets in Europe. Westbridge will leverage the team's experience and proven track record in developing renewable projects in Italy.”

He further stated, “Diversifying our presence across Europe strengthens our portfolio and opens new avenues in another renewable forward jurisdiction.

Currently, the projects’ planning applications are in progress.

The company’s strategic expansion includes bolstering the sustainability and success of origination-to-monetisation model, it stated.

It has been informed that the development of latest Italian projects follows the successful sale of the 230MWac Georgetown solar project to a subsidiary of Mytilineos Energy & Metals.
