Zhao Wei, Chairman of SunHydro: Creating a Zero-Carbon Future with Green Hydrogen



On June 10, the "2022 China Energy Enterprise New Energy Industry Development Forum" hosted by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation was held in online. Zou Caicai, Xu Chunming, Peng Suping and other academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and representatives of energy companies such as PetroChina, Sinopec, and CNOOC attended the webinar. Dr. Zhao Wei, chairman of SunHydro, was invited to give a keynote speech on "Creating a Zero-Carbon Future with Green Hydrogen".


The top-level plan of the national "3060" dual-carbon strategy has gradually become clear, the new energy industry is in a rapid development, and traditional energy companies have also entered the market one after another, boosting the transformation and upgrading of the energy structure. Hydrogen energy has a similar industrial foundation, similar customers and infrastructure as the oil and gas business, and has become an excellent choice for low-carbon transformation of oil and gas energy companies. At the webinar, the guests had in-depth communication on topics such as the development prospects of the hydrogen energy industry, strategic research, the opportunities and challenges of green hydrogen for petrochemicals, and the integrated development of oil and gas and new energy.


Dr. Zhao Wei pointed out that hydrogen energy, as an energy carrier and low-carbon fuel, can introduce wind energy and solar energy into the energy system on a large scale, participate in the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body. Through hydrogen energy storage and fuel cell power generation technology, the flexible power consumption needs of the terminal energy-using sector are met at the same time. It also provides solutions for high-emission areas that are difficult to decarbonize or electrify, such as direct low-carbon fuels for transportation and industry.
