Actis signs MoU to explore green hydrogen development in Egypt

Energy Box

Actis and the Egyptian government signed a Memorandum of Understanding in August 2022 to produce green hydrogen.

The MoU will provide Actis with a gateway into what may end up becoming one of the region’s major hydrogen marketplaces. Worldwide, the commercial industry makes extensive use of hydrogen in processes including making methanol for polymers, ammonia for fertilizer, and oil refining. Actis believes that Egypt has a comparative edge in the search for green hydrogen because of its renewable resources and accessibility to markets in Europe and Asia.

Actis LLP, a U.K.-based investor in developing markets, and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January 2020 to explore strategic partnerships in a number of Egyptian industries.
