AFRY selected as Owners' Engineer for Philippine PV project

Swedish energy and infrastructure consultancy AFRY (STO:AFRY) on Monday said it will serve as the owner’s engineer for a project involving the construction of a 65-MWp solar and its grid-connection in the Philippines.

The contract was placed by Amatera Renewable Energy Corporation, a Philippine-based company which was acquired by a unit of Thai conglomerate B.Grimm Power PCL (BKK:BGRIM) at end-2023.

Under the scope of the deal, AFRY will deliver comprehensive services for the solar photovoltaic (PV) project and its connection to a local substation. The Swedish firm will be engaged in the project management, design review and monitoring of the construction and commissioning phases.

The project owned by Amatera calls for the installation of a PV park in Bacolod, the capital city of the island of Negros. Dubbed Vista Alegre, the ground-mounted plant will generate electricity for Bacolod. Its commissioning is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025.

Last month, AFRY was hired by Aboitiz Power as owner’s engineer for the Philippine group's 172-MWp solar project in the province of Negros Occidental.
