Aggreko acquires RenEnergy’s businesses to boost solar and storage capabilities

Aggreko has acquired the UK and South African-based businesses of RenEnergy to boost its solar and storage capabilities.

The power generation equipment supplier plans to deliver more comprehensive renewable energy solutions through this acquisition.

According to the companies, the acquisition will be helpful to address the needs of clients and support the energy sector’s transition.

Chris Rason, managing director of Aggreko Energy Services, was quoted in a statement, “RenEnergy is a well-run business in the growing renewable energy sector and we look forward to supporting the management team in achieving their growth ambitions, both in terms of investment and the benefit our commercial position brings in both the UK and South Africa.”

Aggreko had agreed to become the financing and development partner for a 500 MW solar portfolio last year.

These projects have planned to be realised by the end of 2030 and will have around US$1 billion in investment. The company had also launched a rental scheme for solar PV and battery storage systems.

Meanwhile, RenEnergy has planned to continue to operate under its own brand for the integration of solar and energy storage.
