GreenYellow has signed a significant contract with Carrefour to install solar panels in parking lots across France. This agreement covers a total capacity of over 350 MW installed in 90 hypermarket and 260 supermarket parking lots, generating nearly 450 GWh annually. The development phase begins in July 2024, with the first installations expected to be operational by 2025.
GreenYellow, an energy efficiency and distributed solar specialist, has partnered with Carrefour to solarize the parking lots of 350 hypermarkets and supermarkets in France. The development will start in July 2024, and half of the project will be completed by the end of 2026.
This initiative will have a total capacity of over 350 MW, producing nearly 450 GWh of clean energy annually, making it the largest decentralized solar program in Europe. The 20-year agreement includes installing photovoltaic systems in the parking lots of 90 hypermarkets and 260 supermarkets, covering almost 180,000 parking spaces in key regions: Normandy, Île-de-France, Hauts-de-France, Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
For Carrefour, this project aims to comply with the law on the acceleration of renewable energies (APER), contribute to achieving 100% renewable energy by 2030, and reduce dependence on electricity price fluctuations by using self-produced electricity.
“Our commitment includes a performance guarantee for the entire contract duration, providing Carrefour with efficient multi-site implementation. With our third-party financing model covering the entire investment, Carrefour can accelerate its decarbonization journey and benefit from this transformation to an 'as-a-Service' model,” said Otmane Hajji, President of GreenYellow.
