Cero reaches commercial operations at 100-MW solar farm in Greece

Cero Generation, an independent portfolio company of Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), said that the 100-MW Delfini solar project in the Greek municipality of Drama has reached commercial operation.

Located in the East Macedonia and Thrace region of Greece, the facility will now produce 157 GWh of clean electricity annually to power 58,140 local homes.

The Delfini plant is supported by a 2.5-kilometer (1.55 mi), 33-kV medium-voltage line connected to a 33/150-kV high-voltage substation.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities were done by a joint venture between US-based Ameresco Inc and Greece’s Sunel Group.

With a power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with Swiss energy trader Axpo, the site is the first such project in the country not to leverage Greek government subsidies on electricity costs. It received support under the Next Generation EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, Cero noted in a social media post today.
