Better Energy Secures Marius Pedersen as Off-Taker for Danish PV Park

Danish environmental and waste treatment company Marius Pedersen A/S has signed up to procure green power from a soon-to-be-commissioned solar photovoltaic (PV) park owned by its compatriot Better Energy.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) calls for the waste recycling group to receive electricity for 10 years. The contracted volumes will come from Better Energy’s Fraugde solar farm on the island of Funen, the renewable energy company said on Thursday.

Marius Pedersen intends to use the green power for its facilities on Funen, which are located in proximity to the photovoltaic (PV) park.

The Fraugde PV park is located in the municipality of Odense and covers 74 hectares. Due to be connected to the grid by end-2024, the plant is expected to generate about 81 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to meet the demand of about 51,000 Danes, equal to almost 30% of Odense’s 180,000 residents. Better Energy is handling the site’s construction, operation and maintenance.

At end-2023, Semler Gruppen, Denmark’s leading car importer, agreed to buy power from the Fraugde solar park under a 10-year deal. Danish brewery Carlsberg is also among the project’s power off-takers.
