Italian chemicals group SIAD said that a 10MW solar farm dedicated to powering its member company in central Italy went into operation.
Specifically, the solar farm provides all of its electricity for a plant of SIAD’s industrial gases company IGAT Industria Gas Tecnici SpA.
IGAT’s plant is located Pignataro Maggiore, in the province of Caserta, while the solar farm was built in Alessandria province, north-west Italy. The facility is expected to generate around 14 GWh on average each year, SIAD said.
Construction and operation of the solar farm was supported by a power purchase agreement (PPA) between IGAT and Italian utility Edison Energia, part of Edison SpA.
The PPA has a term of ten years.
