EDP Renewables Reaches 100 MW in Spain with New Hybrid Solar-Wind Project
Portuguese multinational EDP Renewables (EDPR) has successfully launched a 20.9 MWp solar power addition to its existing Castillo de Garcimuñoz hybrid project in Cuenca, Spain. This addition complements the 25.5 MW of wind power already installed at the site, making it EDPR's third hybrid solar-wind project in Spain.
With this latest development, EDPR has now reached a milestone of 100 MW of hybrid power capacity in Spain. The company operates three hybrid parks in the country, totaling 103.35 MW:
Castillo de Garcimuñoz: 46.4 MW (Cuenca)
Cruz de Hierro: 28.75 MW (Ávila), launched in June 2023
Villacastín: 28.2 MW (Segovia)
In addition to its Spanish operations, EDPR manages two hybrid energy parks in Portugal, with a combined capacity of 63.2 MW. Notable projects include:
Mina de Orgueirel: 8.4 MW solar plant paired with the Mosteiro wind farm, which has an installed capacity of 11 MW.
Monte de Vez: 21 MWp photovoltaic plant adjacent to the São João wind farm, which has a capacity of 22.8 MW.
EDPR is also expanding its hybrid portfolio beyond the Iberian Peninsula. In Poland, the company operates a significant hybrid energy park comprising the 45 MW Konary photovoltaic plant and the 79.5 MW Pawlowo wind farm, with a total capacity of 124.5 MW.
Overall, EDPR currently boasts 0.3 GW of hybrid capacity installed across Europe, solidifying its position as a leading player in the renewable energy sector.
