EiDF Secures Approval for 50-MW Solar Project in Spain

Spanish solar self-consumption specialist EiDF has secured a permit to construct a 50-MW photovoltaic solar power plant in Leon province, northwestern Spain, the firm announced on the last Thursday.

It said that the project will require an investment of close to EUR 40 million (USD 43.5m).

The solar farm, featuring more than 99,000 Tier 1 modules, will be located on a 149-hectare site in the municipality of Valdefresno. EiDF plans to break ground there during the first quarter of 2025.


Construction is expected to take seven months.


The project is part of EiDF’s plan to go beyond its self-consumption roots and achieve vertical integration. Coming from the pipeline of EiDF’s generation unit, the Valdefresno solar farm will generate electricity for one of the firm’s power retail verticals.
