Elgin Commences Construction on Three Solar Projects in Ireland

British solar and storage developer Elgin Energy announced on Wednesday the start of construction works on three solar farms in Ireland with a combined capacity of 21MW.

The sites are located in the Meath, Waterford and Longford counties. Once operational, the facilities will generate enough clean power to meet the needs of about 5000 homes, the company said in a social media post.

Elgin expects to commence construction on 13 other projects in 2024. The entire portfolio will be capable of powering about 50,000 households across the country when fully commissioned.

“This portfolio of solar farms reaching construction is a major achievement for Elgin. It showcases the effective collaboration between Elgin and our partners at AFRY, Enerpower powered by Greenvolt and TLI Group, and with our landowners,” said Emmet Clarke, head of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) at Elgin.
