Encavis AG has further solidified its position in Italy's renewable energy market by acquiring two ready-to-build solar projects, Cobu and Massarenti, located in the Emilia-Romagna region, south of Ferrara.
Together, the projects have a combined capacity of 18.4 MW and are set to deliver 28 GWh of clean energy annually by the end of 2025.
The construction of the solar parks will be carried out by Ethical Power, benefiting from Emilia-Romagna’s favorable permitting process and strategic location.
This acquisition represents the third successful collaboration between Encavis AG and Hive Energy, a partnership that began in Spain. Encavis previously acquired two Spanish solar parks, Fundici (55 MW, 2022) and La Florida (30 MW, 2024), laying the foundation for continued cooperation in expanding renewable energy across Europe.
Mario Schirru, CIO/COO of Encavis AG, emphasized the importance of these projects: "Our Spanish solar parks, Fundici (55 MW, 2022) and La Florida (30 MW, 2024), which we acquired in recent years, form the basis of our successful collaboration with Hive Energy, which is now being continued with two new Italian projects. The parks not only further expand our Italian portfolio, but are also characterised by their strategic proximity to industrial PPA offtakers."
Encavis plans to secure a long-term pay-as-produced Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with an industrial partner, further ensuring the projects’ viability and contribution to regional clean energy targets.
As some of the first large-scale solar parks in Emilia-Romagna, Cobu and Massarenti underscore Encavis AG's dedication to accelerating sustainable energy development across key European markets.
