In a groundbreaking move announced during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology, has joined forces with five major healthcare companies to spearhead the shift towards net-zero health systems. AstraZeneca, Lonza, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, and Roche are set to embark on a three-year renewable energy supply agreement, aiming to deliver an impressive 200 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green power annually, starting in 2024.
This unprecedented collaboration is projected to result in a substantial reduction of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 120,000 tons per year – a feat likened to removing 25,000 cars from the roads. Envision Energy’s commitment to fostering sustainable energy solutions underscores its dedication to assisting partners in achieving net-zero goals and revolutionizing the healthcare supply chain’s approach to decarbonization.
Envision Energy, renowned for its innovative consultation, digital solutions, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), has already facilitated over 2000 partners in reaching net-zero targets. With an annual trading volume exceeding 10 terawatt-hours (TWh), the company provides comprehensive green power solutions, spanning distributed power, net-zero industrial parks, green tariffs, and PPAs. The collaboration ensures access to a reliable and stable power supply for healthcare companies, shielding them from the volatility of electricity market prices.
Four of the collaborating companies – AstraZeneca, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, and Roche – are members of the Sustainable Markets Initiative Health Systems Task Force. Launched in 2020 by His Majesty King Charles III, the Task Force has emerged as a global private sector leader in driving sustainable transitions. In November 2023, the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s China Council Health Working Group was established, featuring 16 Chinese companies from healthcare, energy, and digital sectors. Envision Energy, as a member of the China Council Health Working Group, aims to collaborate with industry leaders to promote the adoption of renewable energy sources and contribute to the global green transformation.
