Global digital infrastructure provider Equinix has signed a new renewable energy Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Flo Energy Singapore to supply solar power to its facilities across the country. The agreement represents Equinix’s fourth renewable energy deal in Singapore over the past two years, further supporting the company’s efforts to secure clean electricity for its expanding digital infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Flo Energy Singapore will initially supply at least 11.5MWp of solar capacity to Equinix. The electricity will be generated by rooftop solar installations deployed across commercial and industrial buildings in Singapore. The contract also provides the option to increase the contracted capacity to up to 50MWp as Equinix’s electricity demand grows.
The latest agreement is expected to further strengthen Equinix’s renewable energy portfolio in Singapore. The company expects its cumulative renewable energy capacity in the country to reach approximately 215MWp by 2028. Across its renewable energy agreements, Equinix expects to generate around 250,000MWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the electricity needed to charge approximately 60,000 electric vehicles in Singapore each year.
The partnership also expands Equinix’s renewable energy procurement strategy. The company has previously participated in initiatives such as the SolarNova 7 project and the JTC Jurong Island renewable energy programme. Its partnership with Flo Energy adds another private-sector renewable energy initiative while supporting the deployment of additional rooftop solar capacity across Singapore.
The agreement comes as data center operators face growing pressure to manage rising electricity consumption while reducing carbon emissions. Singapore has become a major regional hub for data centers, cloud computing and artificial intelligence services. However, limited land availability and constraints on electricity resources have made efficient and sustainable power procurement increasingly important.
The partnership also aligns with Singapore’s broader sustainability objectives under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which aims to accelerate clean energy adoption and reduce emissions.
By expanding its use of rooftop solar through corporate renewable energy procurement, Equinix is strengthening efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its data center operations while supporting Singapore’s transition toward a more sustainable digital economy.
