Germany's Hep Global enters in Poland with 100-MW solar projects

German solar developer Hep Global GmbH has acquired a 100-MW portfolio of Polish solar projects in a deal that marks its entry into the Central European country’s photovoltaic (PV) market.

The acquired bundle includes 16 individual projects located across various parts of Poland, Hep said on Wednesday without providing the value of the deal. The assets were sold by utility-scale Nebo Solar, which is a joint venture between project developer KRD Global Group and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm ID Energy Group.

Under the arrangement, Nebo Solar will finalise the development of the schemes until they reach the ready-to-build stage.

“Entering the Polish market is a significant milestone for us, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to play an active role in the growth of the solar PV sector in Poland,” said Oleksandr Iakhnii, director M&A at Hep.

Since 2008, Guglingen-based Hep has built a pipeline of over 5 GW in solar projects in the US-American, Canadian, Japanese and German solar markets. The company’s interest in Poland comes amid expectations that the country will expand its 4.9-GW installed solar fleet with an additional 17.5 GW by 2026 to meet its decarbonisation goals.
