German energy supplier RheinEnergie AG and local solar developer and installer Goldbeck Solar GmbH has switched on a 32MWp solar park, coupled with storage, in the northern federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Located near the Mueritz airfield in the communities of Laerz and Rechlin, the facility is equipped with 56,800 bifacial Canadian Solar modules and will generate enough clean power to meet the needs of around 10,000 homes. About 20 MWp of the total output is subsidised under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).
The site, spanning over 30 hectares, is supported by a 7-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) provided by INTILION.
Construction works on the project started about a year ago and the opening ceremony was held on Tuesday.
