Greece's Helleniq Energy shines with 260MW solar project

Greek oil company Helleniq Energy Holdings has received environmental approval to construct a 260-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Greece's Western Macedonia region. The permit was granted by the Ministry of the Interior and will be implemented by Helleniq Energy's subsidiary, Fensol Holding. The project, called Mavrovouni, will cover an area of 1.1 million sq km and will utilize existing infrastructure and connect to high-voltage lines in the area. Helleniq Energy's strategic plan is to have at least 1 GW of renewables in operation by 2025 and over 2 GW by 2030.

In addition to the solar project, Helleniq Renewables has also been awarded a license for a 50-MW battery storage project in central Greece. The company's total development portfolio currently stands at over 4.2 GW.
