Hafslund JV Acquires 208-MW Norwegian Wind Farm from SUSI

Norwegian power group Hafslund AS and its joint venture partner Eidsiva Energi are buying a 208-MW wind farm in southern Norway, one of the largest ones in the country, from a fund managed by the Swiss investment manager SUSI Partners.

The purchase of Tonstad Vindpark aims to expand Hafslund's existing wind fleet, the company said on Thursday, adding that the move will help it enhance its production in the NO2 price range. The asset will be held by Hafslund Kraft, Norway's second-largest power producer with a stake in 80 hydropower plants and two wind parks.

Financial details about the acquisition were kept under wraps.

Located in the municipalities of Sirdal and Flekkefjord, Tonstad Vindpark has an annual output of roughly 670 GWh, which is enough to meet the electricity demand of almost 100,000 people. The generation is contracted for 25 years by Hydro Energi AS, a subsidiary of Norwegian aluminium supplier Norsk Hydro ASA.

The transaction is pending regulatory clearance. Following the change in ownership, Tonstad Vindpark will be renamed to Tonstad Vindkraftverk AS.
