Harmony Energy has finalized the sale of its 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to EDF Renewables Polska, a subsidiary of EDF Group. This marks a major step in Harmony Energy’s expansion within Poland’s energy market, with the proceeds set to fuel future BESS developments.
As one of Europe’s largest battery storage projects, the site will play a crucial role in supporting Poland’s evolving energy system. With the country’s increasing reliance on renewables and declining coal usage, the demand for flexible storage solutions continues to grow.
Michał Maćkowiak, Executive Director of Harmony Energy Poland, emphasized the deal’s significance, stating that it positions the company to develop, own, and operate a substantial portfolio in Poland. He highlighted the importance of high-quality battery storage projects in enabling a cleaner, more resilient energy system.
The transaction reflects the rising demand for advanced energy storage across Poland and Europe, as countries accelerate their transition to renewables. JLL Energy and Infrastructure advised on the deal.
