JERA inks offsite solar PPA to power pharmacies across Japan

Updated: Dec 3

Japanese utility JERA Co Inc said today it has signed an offsite corporate solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with AIN Holdings Inc (TYO:9627), which operates and franchises pharmacies in Japan.

The deal was inked by wholly owned subsidiary JERA Cross Inc and is scheduled to come into effect on December 1, 2024.

Under the PPA, JERA Cross will deliver solar power to 85 AIN pharmacies in Kansai and 26 in Hokuriku.

JERA noted that there are plans to ink similar PPAs with AIN for pharmacies in the regions of Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, and Chugoku. Overall, this initiative is expected to offset some 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
