Taiyo Power and Storage, a joint venture between Kajima and Low Carbon Alliance, has unloaded a 37.3-MW greenfield solar project in England to British power generator Infinis Solar Developments Ltd.
The project in question has all approvals in place and is currently in the ready-to-build stage, Taiyo said on Thursday without disclosing financial details about the transaction.
Located in East Devon and in proximity to Exeter Airport, the Ford Oaks photovoltaic (PV) park is expected to generate about 37.9 GWh of electricity once commissioned, or enough to meet the electricity consumption of about 18,500 annually. The project for its construction comes with plans for roughly 45 ha of green infrastructure improvements, including tree and hedgerow planting. The solar park itself will cover 58 ha of land, The project is planned to enter commercial operations by 2026.
Taiyo, set up in 2021, said Ford Oaks is its first project to achieve the planning consent phase. The company said it is “committed to developing additional solar energy assets to enhance the UK's renewable energy capacity in the coming years.
