Malaysia's PETRA launches 'Solar BOLEH! Initiative for affordable solar panels

The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), led by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, has introduced the affordable ‘Solar BOLEH!’ initiative to facilitate wider adoption of solar energy through home solar panel installations.

PETRA has partnered with the AEON Group, Bank Simpanan Nasional, and SOLS Energy to execute the program, which falls under the People’s Solar Transition Initiative (Solar@PETRA Initiative). The initiative aims to promote broader participation in the national energy transition agenda by expanding access to solar installation schemes and financing options for domestic users.

Through this public-private collaboration, individuals can easily subscribe to solar installations at AEON branches nationwide, with exclusive benefits extended to AEON cardholders, including double reward points.

Fadillah highlighted that the Solar BOLEH! program aims to democratize solar energy adoption, which was previously limited to those with higher affordability due to the associated costs. The program, with its affordability initiatives such as BSN’s solar financing for public servants and SOLS Energy’s zero-capital approach, aims to make solar installations more accessible to the public.
