Jacobsdorf (energate) - The project developer MLK has started construction of a 73 MW solar park in Georgenthal, Brandenburg.
MLK is using the existing grid connection infrastructure of a neighbouring wind farm, the company announced. "This allows us to reduce costs and speed up project realisation," explained Heinrich Lohmann, founder and managing director of the MLK Group. Another advantage: The grid connection capacities are utilised more effectively. While solar plants mainly produce electricity in summer and during the day, wind turbines are more active in winter. The feed-in is more even without throttling the systems.
In future, the electricity from the solar park will be sold via an unspecified, long-term power purchase agreement, a company spokesperson explained in response to an enquiry from energate. Half of the operating company consists of the MLK Group and a local landowner. The company did not provide any information on the investment costs.
