Naturgy Energy Group SA has broken ground on three solar photovoltaic projects in Spain’s southern region of Andalusia, a development that will add a combined 100 MWp.
The Spanish utility said on Monday that it will invest more than EUR 60 million (USD 66.2m) in these projects, which it dubbed Andujar I, Andujar II and Andujar III.
The site is located in the Andujar municipality, Jaen province. The three solar farms, together featuring more than 225,000 modules, are expected to commence operation in the second half of 2025. Their combined annual output is estimated at 180 GWh, which would be enough to power around 55,800 homes, according to Naturgy.
The company currently operates 255 MW of renewables capacity in Andalusia, spread between five wind farms and two solar farms. These will soon be join by a 50-MW solar farm in Villanueva del Rey, Seville province, which is currently in the final stage of construction.
Naturgy also announced that it has eight other solar projects in advanced stages of development in Andalusia. These projects, planned for Seville, will represent 200 MW.
