NEFIN has joined hands with MYDIN to implement carbon-neutral energy solutions in Malaysia. This partnership marks their first collaboration in the Southern region.
NEFIN is an Asia Pacific green independent power producer, while MYDIN is home-grown wholesale and retail chain in Malaysia.
Issuing a statement, the duo informed that NEFIN will “install solar systems boosting the generation and usage of clean energy, showcasing a significant step towards a greener future within the retail industry.”
The statement read, “This partnership will help MYDIN to reduce its carbon emissions and energy consumption, while also setting a new standard for sustainable practices in the retail sector.”
To be noted, Malaysia has committed to achieve climate neutrality and cutting greenhouse gas intensity against gross domestic product (GDP) by 45 percent by 2030 compared with 2005 levels.
“This collaboration perfectly aligns with MYDIN Prihatin forfuture’s mission to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility,” Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of MYDIN, was quoted in a statement.
MYDIN informed that it is likely to save MYR 71.05 million ($52.42 million) through this installation with a total generation of 286,746,066kWh of clean energy.
Meanwhile, NEFIN informed that it has offered the latest technology in solar photovoltaic panels. As of 2023, NEFIN has successfully generated an impressive 200GWh of renewable energy.
Chong Bor Hung, Managing Director of NEFIN South East Asia and Head of Business Development, was quoted in a statement, “This partnership marks a leap towards creating a greener and more environmentally conscious future for the entire retailing industry which will contribute significantly to Malaysia’s sustainability goals.”
