Neoen has commenced construction of a 94MW battery project in Sweden.
The developer provided full notice to proceed to battery energy storage system (BESS) supplier Nidec, signalling the start of construction of the Isbillen Power Reserve.
A ceremony to mark the beginning of construction work took place at the French-Swedish Business Forum organised during the state visit of the French President Macron in Stockholm on 31 January 2024.
Isbillen Power Reserve will be one of the largest BESS installations in the Nordics when operational in the first half of 2025.
Laetitia Prot, Managing Director of Neoen Sweden, said: “We are delighted to be launching the construction of another record-breaking battery project in Sweden.
“I would like to thank in particular the distribution system operator E.ON and local stakeholders for their active support. With now over 300MW of assets in operation or under construction in the country, including 146MW of batteries, we are among the most dynamic players in renewable energy in Sweden.”
