Paprec and Binn Group Break Ground on EUR 120m EfW Plant in Scotland

A joint venture between French recycling company Paprec and Scottish waste management firm Binn Group has started work on a EUR-120-million (USD 129.3m) Energy-from-Waste (EfW) project in Scotland.

The JV, called Paprec Energies Binn, is building the plant at the Binn Eco Park in Tayside where it will process up to 85,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and produce up to 8 MW of electricity. The facility will also have the capacity to generate up to 17 MW of heat. It will source half of its feedstock from residual waste produced within the surrounding local authority area under a 15-year contract between Paprec and the Perth and Kinross Council.

The project is expected to create 200 jobs during construction and 30 long-term positions post completion.

“When this facility goes live in early 2026, it will become the third EfW plant operated by Paprec within the UK,” said Sebastien Petithuguenin, CEO of Paprec Energies.
